The Bournemouth Christmas carols 2026 programme is out: free performances by choirs, bands and singers on the stage in Bournemouth Square, next to the Alpine Lodge, from the opening night on Thursday 12 November to Sunday 20 December. The schedule below is as the organisers, Alpine Christmas Markets, list it on their carols and choirs page, read on 19 October 2026. They say more acts may be added, and times can change, so check that page before a special trip.

Where and how much?

Every performance is on the stage in Bournemouth Square, beside the Alpine Lodge, inside the Christmas market. It is free to watch and there is nothing to book: you stand in the Square with everyone else. The market is cashless, card and contactless only, if you want a hot drink while you listen.

The organisers have not listed any acts after 20 December so far. The market itself runs to 31 December and the wider event to 3 January 2027.

Which days are busiest on stage?

On the published schedule, Saturdays carry the most acts: 14 November and 5 December have six or seven each, and 12 December is given over to the JOY to the World Takeover, a morning and afternoon of school, community and church choirs. Weekday evenings are lighter, often one or two acts after dark, which suits anyone who wants to hear a choir without a Saturday crowd.

Santa also appears on the same stage at 5.30pm to tell a festive story, free; see Santa in Bournemouth Square.

Other Christmas music in town

The Square stage is the free option. For ticketed concerts at the BIC and the Pavilion over the same weeks, see our BH Live autumn and winter guide. The Bournemouth Guide's what's on listings and its Christmas guide cover the wider season.

What it means for visitors

For a weekend visitor, the Saturday programme is the one to plan around, with the market and the Festive Trail either side. For a long-stay guest in town through November and December, the weekday evening slots are easy to catch on the way back from work. It is outdoors and continues in most weather, so dress for standing still in the cold.

Staying nearby

Flexiestays' hotels are on the West Cliff, about ten minutes on foot from the Square, so an evening of carols needs no car. Longer stays over Christmas and New Year include bills; see what counts as a long stay and the long-term stays page.
