FlexieStays Guide

About This Guide

Who writes the FlexieStays Guide, why it exists, and the standards it holds itself to.

This is a guide to Bournemouth written for people who are staying here. Not choosing whether to come — staying. A weekend, a week, a season. The difference sounds small and changes almost everything about what is worth writing down.

Most destination guides are built to persuade. They rank the top ten things to do, describe everything as vibrant, and stop being useful roughly forty-eight hours after you arrive. This one tries to be useful on day nine: which neighbourhood you would actually want to wake up in, where the food shop is, what the town does in February, which beach is worth the extra twenty minutes of walking.

Who publishes this

FlexieStays operates serviced apartments in Bournemouth, and FlexieStays publishes this guide.

That is a commercial interest and it is stated plainly wherever it is relevant rather than tucked into a footer. The apartment pages are marked as the operator writing about its own buildings. Everything else — the beaches, the restaurants, the pubs, the neighbourhoods — is editorial, and no venue has paid to be in it.

The standards

Nothing is invented. No prices, opening hours, menus, awards or walking times appear unless they were checked. Where something could not be verified, the page says so and points you at the source instead of guessing. A missing fact is honest; a fabricated one is not.

No copied writing. Every word of editorial here was written for this guide.

Images are licensed properly. Most location photography comes from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences that permit commercial use. Non-commercial and no-derivatives images are excluded at the point of collection, every photographer is credited at image credits, and there is a standing takedown offer with no argument attached.

Location data is open. Coordinates and venue positions come from OpenStreetMap, which is why several hundred places appear on the map that no guide would otherwise bother listing.

Ratings are real or absent. Where a guest score appears on a property page it is the genuine published aggregate for that property, sourced from third-party booking platforms. None are estimated, rounded up or assembled from a handful of quotes.

What is still being worked on

Several hundred listings on this guide carry location data but no written review yet. They are deliberately marked as such and kept out of search engine results until someone has actually looked into them. They are here because a map with everything on it is more useful than a map with only the famous things.

Rather than pretend those pages are more than they are, the guide flags them and gets on with writing the next one.

Getting in touch

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who writes the FlexieStays Guide?

It is written and published by FlexieStays, which operates serviced apartments in Bournemouth. That commercial interest is stated on every page it touches rather than left for readers to discover.

Is this guide independent?

No, and it does not claim to be. It is published by a company that rents apartments here. What it does promise is that nothing outside the FlexieStays properties is paid placement, and that no claim is made without a source.

Do venues pay to be listed?

No. No restaurant, pub, attraction or beach on this guide has paid to appear, and none can. The listings come from open mapping data and editorial choice, not from a rate card.

Where does the information come from?

Location data comes from OpenStreetMap. Photography is mostly Creative Commons work from Wikimedia Commons, credited at /image-credits. Editorial text is written for this guide and checked before it is published.

How do I report something wrong?

Tell us and it gets fixed. Corrections, outdated details and image takedown requests all go through the contact page, and none of them require a reason beyond being right.
