Who they are
Out of Ulaanbaatar, The Hu build heavy, riff-led rock on instruments most rock bands have never held: the morin khuur, the horsehead fiddle; the tovshuur, a lute; and flutes, under khöömei throat singing. They broke out through their videos and have toured widely since.
Almost all of it is sung in Mongolian, and it matters less than you would think. The rhythm and the weight of the delivery carry the room.
The venue
O2 Academy Bournemouth is on Christchurch Road in Boscombe, on the eastern side of town rather than in the centre, which is worth knowing when you work out how you are getting home.
